About the Design: Sardegna (aka Sardinia) is an Italian island in the Mediterranean sea. It is one of the oldest wine producing regions in the area with over 3,000 years of winemaking history. Vermentino is a white varietal that makes light, refreshing wines with a distinct mineralty, typically including notes of pear, citrus & white blossoms. Vermentino di Gallura, located on the northern side of the island is Sardinia's only DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) appellation (aka the best of the best). These wines must legally be at least 95% Vermentino to use the designation on the bottle. The region was raised from DOC to DOCG status in 1996. Many of the vineyards are have dry stone walls or cacti hedges around them.
