About the design: A cordon is a horizontal extension of the trunk of the vine that is trained to grow along the fruiting wire. Cordon trained vines are typically spur pruned. Spur pruning is a more traditional method of training grape vines. It is usually more common in warmer climates & widely considered the best method for maintaining old vines.
